Project Overview:

This research project looks into the experiences of Latinx Studies faculty and students across different universities. Latinx Studies is a program of study established for the purpose of detailing and improving Latinx lives. These programs cultivate community actualization, a framework to challenge imperial and colonial beliefs, and an opportunity to improve self-determination and self-worth. Currently, only 89 of the nation’s 2,637 four-year higher education institutions offer a Latinx Studies major despite Latinx people making up 20% of the U.S. population. Our work provides an insight that Latinx Studies holds immense value to students, faculty, and higher education.
